Really Wild Food And Countryside Festival, St Davids, Pembrokeshire, West Wales. Farm Shop.

Unlike The Really Wild Food and Countryside Festival which is a non profit making organisation, The Really Wild Farm Shop at Nant-y-Coy Mill, Wolfscastle is a commercial business set up by three Pembrokeshire people who are passionate about local foods, Julia Horton-Powdrill who originated (and organises) the Really Wild Food and Countryside Festival, her husband Brian Powdrill, and Adam Vincent who farms at Mathry. Having become used to the constant quality, flavour and freshness of locally-produced foods on display at the festival over the last 5 years, they wanted to be able to offer it to customers not only at the annual Really Wild Festival in St Davids each September but throughout the year.

They decided to use the iconic Really Wild registered trade mark because it has helped in building up a great audience following, and epitomises the energy and passion that the three partners feel for their projects and businesses.

The idea of the farm shop was born with Adam Vincent of Trehale Farm, Mathry, who's vision was to open a farm shop as an outlet for the high quality produce of the rare breeds meat and charcuterie from his family farm. also for produce from a collective enterprise of Pembrokeshire farms and smallholdings. He worked tirelessly for nearly two years bringing together like-minded local producers to form a cooperative venture, which engaged great support and practical assistance from a number of private and government-sponsored advisors.

A key requirement was to obtain a prominent premises with easy access for locals and visitors alike. Eventually, they were able to open negotiations for a shop unit at Nant Y Coy, a well-known local attraction which has been beautifully restored over the past few years. However, it was not a smooth process and, for a number of different reasons, Adam found himself needing to find alternative business partners.

He found them in the form of the the Really Wild Festival organisers! We were excited to be able to offer a year round emphasis on local high quality produce and the idea was re-born with renewed vigour. The shop opened its doors on 24th August 2009.

We aim to provide the freshest ingredients with an absolute minimum of food-miles, many product lines having been sourced from almost within viewing distance of the shop! In addition to which, it is our overall policy to stock as many products as possible that are made or grown in Wales. When we do have to cross the Welsh border, we will only be buying high quality products.

We welcome suggestions for items which customers would like us to stock so do call in and browse...The Really Wild Farm Shop
