Really Wild Food And Countryside Festival, St Davids, Pembrokeshire, West Wales.

We started the Verge this year (our answer to a festival Fringe!) in the hope that we can encourage lots of events, large and small, between the August Bank Holiday and the Really Wild Festival Weekend.

The first Verge event was a ‘Wild Medicine Walk’ with Lara Bernays on Wednesday evening. The walkers met up in St Davids and took to the lanes and hedgerows around the city to learn about foraging for free medicines to ease aches, pains and ills.

Really Wild Food And Countryside Festival, St Davids, Pembrokeshire, West Wales. Verge. On Thursday 20 runners took part in the first Really Wild Race in aid of Shalom Hospice in St. Davids. Roland Sherwood organised and set up the course from the Festival Field down to Whitesands and back, taking in 5 miles of Pembrokeshire’s most beautiful countryside. With many thanks to www.onlineraceresults.co.uk they have a full list of results (follow 2009 Results & then RW Race) and the winner was BARRY OWEN.

On Friday Debbie Withey from Cheese & Pickles Studios in St Davids held a Papier Mache Workshop at Oriel y Parc Gallery with eighteen children and adults attending.

Wild food was top of the bill on city restaurant menus during the week to support the Verge and the Really Wild Festival. This is the fifth year that diners have been able to get a taste of the countryside before the festival weekend.

If anyone has any great ideas for the Verge next year please let the RWF team know….yes, you’ve got it, we’re planning it already!!

I've been meaning to mention that we'd prefer the run on the Saturday........you may get runners coming up for the weekend then, especially if there's free camping again!

Also, a run would add something to the general hwyl! I reckon Helen Walker, Rowland & co would be happy to organise with minimum input from you (but you'd better ask them first)!
